Service terms

Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Spider Identifier, operated by Spider Identifier Project.

Effective date: 2026-08-15

Educational use only

Spider Identifier is an educational tool. It is not medical, veterinary, pest-control, or professional taxonomic advice. Automated results can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for decisions about health, treatment, handling, or property.

Safety and emergencies

Never handle an unknown spider based on a result. If a bite, possible exposure, severe reaction, or worsening symptom occurs, contact local poison control, a qualified medical professional, or emergency services rather than waiting for or relying on this service.

Your uploads and permitted use

You must have the right to upload every image and provide every detail you submit. Do not upload people, private documents, addresses, unlawful material, malware, or content that violates another person's rights. You retain ownership of your content and grant the limited permission needed to process it for your request.

The service may send uploaded images and supplied details to its hosting and AI providers only as needed to process your identification request. Spider Identifier does not save submitted photos.

Acceptable use and limits

Do not automate requests, evade daily or network limits, probe for credentials, interfere with the service, reverse engineer protected systems, or use the service to harm others. Access may be limited or suspended to protect users, providers, and service availability.

Availability and disclaimers

The service may change, pause, or stop without guaranteeing continuous availability. To the extent permitted by law, it is provided without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Liability limitations apply only to the extent allowed by applicable law and do not exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Governing law, changes, and contact

These terms are governed by applicable law, without overriding consumer protections that must apply where you live. Updated terms will show a new effective date. Questions can be submitted through the private project contact form.
